This is up on Jen McCreight’s blog over at FTB:
“Well, Famous Skeptic is vaguely threatening to sue me. Since Famous Skeptic is rich and I am poor, and since my two sources are too terrified to openly speak out again him (I wonder why), I have removed the part of my previous post that refers to him so I don’t go bankrupt with legal fees.”
This “famous Skeptic” is allegedly Lawrence Krauss.
If these accusations turn out to be true, it’s very upsetting, as I loved Krauss’ book on the Physics of Star Trek and admire the skeptical activism he’s done, but we know better than to let final consequences taint our outlook on an issue.
In any case, legal bullying to silence accusations is not how I expect Skeptics to behave. If the accusations are unfounded, we shouldn’t be afraid of having them aired out and answering them in an honest manner, rather than attempting to silence criticism. If Krauss made such threats, I say he should know better.
