I’m a huge Star Trek: The Next Generation fan. As a preteen, I would count the minutes until the next episode, I would prepare my spot in front of the TV every day before 7 pm, just to watch the rerun episodes. I spent an entire summer speculating about what would happen in the 2nd part of Time’s Arrow (when they went back in time to 19th Century San Francisco).
I recorded episodes with my VCR and watched them again and again, hitting yard sales for all the VHS tapes I could get my hands on so that I could replace whatever might be on them with the adventures of the Enterprise D. I know the lines of many of the episodes by heart. I still think it’s the best TV show that was ever made.
And I never noticed, not once, that the entire time, Riker was stepping over chair backs like some kind of maniac and making it look perfectly natural:
And I’m not the only one who didn’t notice.
